As we bid farewell to summer, we also extend our heartfelt congratulations to the 563rd EWS Wavelength VICEROY Scholars Interns:
- William Heinecke (Senior, Washington State University)
- Daniel Peck (Senior, State University of NY at Albany)
- Timothy Truong (Senior, University of Houston)
- Yaacov Mitsourov (Graduated, Washington State University)
- Dwayne Kelly (Junior, Clark Atlanta University)
- Jace Marden (Senior, Central Washington University)
These talented individuals have been an integral part of our team, bringing their enthusiasm, dedication, and fresh perspectives to every project they touched.
The VICEROY Internship Program, a distinguished initiative of the VICEROY Scholars organization, is designed to equip interns with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their future careers. Over the past ten weeks, these six interns have worked tirelessly to tackle complex problems and deliver tangible results. With the guidance of just a handful of mentors, they successfully created a fully functioning application that addresses critical challenges faced by the 350 SWW user community.
One of the key challenges they addressed was the need for automation in reporting to inform units of new emitter reprogramming needs. Their vision was clear: to create a report generator that would automate the template-filling process into SPECTRE, allowing for swift and accurate report creation after analysis.
Their application solved several significant issues, such as the lack of a standardized format for reports and the inefficiencies caused by handling and transferring reports through emails. They also addressed the problem of reports and feedback getting lost in the process, as well as the fact that reports were often in PDF form and not machine-readable, necessitating manual data entry—a process prone to errors and time-consuming. Additionally, they filled the gap of not having dedicated software for writing reports, streamlining what was previously a lengthy process.
We are proud of all they have achieved during their time with Wavelength and excited to see how they will apply their newfound knowledge and skills in their future endeavors. As they move forward, we know they will carry the lessons and experiences from the VICEROY Internship Program with them, making meaningful contributions to the fields they choose to pursue.
Thank you, William, Daniel, Timothy, Jacob, Dwayne, and Jace, for your hard work, dedication, and the positive energy you brought to our team. We wish you all the best in your future pursuits and are confident that you will continue to achieve great things. Congratulations on completing the VICEROY Internship Program, and best of luck in all your future endeavors!
