Monica plays a critical role in ensuring NTI remains financially sound and compliant with government regulations.
A Journey Through Numbers and Compliance
Monica’s career in accounting has taken her through various industries, from construction and oil to private security and communications. Yet, it was government contracting that ultimately drew her in. After initially stepping away from the field, she found her way back and has since made a lasting impact at NTI.
As the Finance & Compliance Portfolio Manager, Monica oversees NTI’s financial operations and ensures that we meet all regulatory requirements. Her work is instrumental in maintaining the trust of our customers and stakeholders, a responsibility she takes seriously. “Transparency is very important to me,” Monica shares. “If you start hiding information, people stop trusting you. In accounting, trust is everything.”
A Culture of Growth and Opportunity
Monica was drawn to NTI’s leadership philosophy, which emphasizes personal and professional growth alongside company success. “If the company is growing, you’re growing with it," she says. In fact, she’s preparing to pursue her MBA, a decision fueled by NTI’s commitment to supporting employee education. “The fact that our company provides educational programs is huge. Learning should never stop.”
Leading by Example
Beyond her work in finance and compliance, Monica has a strong passion for mentorship and community service. Early in her career, she worked on a program that helped migrant families integrate into the community, teaching parents essential skills and connecting them with vital resources. “I’ve always believed in helping people get to where they want to be faster,” she explains. “If I can share my experiences to help someone else, I will.”
This nurturing spirit extends to her home life, where she enjoys bonding with her daughter through shared books, morning walks, and their favorite pastime—belting out Hamilton lyrics to playfully annoy her husband. “We’ll sing anything, even George Strait if we have to,” she laughs.
Bringing Joy to NTI
Monica’s enthusiasm extends beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. She has a talent for event planning and played a key role in organizing NTI’s recent Christmas party. “I love taking a theme and running with it,” she says. “I hope our teammates enjoyed it as much as we did planning it.”
