When Hope Skibitsky stepped into the CEO role, she wasn’t chasing a title — she was stepping further into a mission. A retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, Hope brings decades of operational leadership and a deep connection to the communities NTI serves.

“I liked the idea that we were still involved in the military mission — helping our military men and women,” she said. “And the fact that NTI gives back to the Hawaiian culture, which I’m part of — it just felt like a win-win.”

A Clear Connection to the Mission

For Hope, civilian leadership isn’t a departure from service — it’s an extension of it. At NTI, she found a unique intersection of purpose: supporting military operations and contributing to cultural preservation through the company’s nonprofit work.

Now as CEO, she’s fully invested. “I’m excited. I’m nervous,” she admits. But that combination — experience paired with humility — is part of what defines her leadership.

Solving Problems, Growing Things

Hope’s leadership style reflects how she lives: engaged, hands-on, and driven to figure things out. She and her husband spend their free time outdoors — hiking, kayaking, and most recently, tending a growing garden that now includes bees.

“We’ve recently become beekeepers,” she shared with a grin. “We needed pollinators for our garden. So we figured it out.”

That same mindset — observe, understand, adapt — echoes through her leadership style.

A Different Kind of First

Not all challenges show up as projects or programs. Some are personal. Hope recently adopted a dog — her first — and the learning curve surprised her.

“We recently rescued a dog — he’s a pretty unique breed. I’d never had a dog before, and I didn’t realize how much we needed him,” she laughed.

It’s the same mindset she brings to work — and one more example of her willingness to grow through unfamiliar territory.

Hope doesn’t just talk about the mission — she embodies it. Her connection to the military community isn’t performative. Her cultural identity isn’t an afterthought. Nor is her leadership just theoretical.
